Videos rent for between 3 and 50 points, depending upon how long you wish to be able to watch the video. For example, one view of a quick teach is 3 points, and a year rental of a full teach is 50 points, or about the cost of ONE dance lesson, in many areas. You will be taken to Google Checkout to make your purchase. The points will instantly appear in your account total. All your credit information is secure at Google Checkout. If you are not used to using your credit card number for online purchases, your credit card company will be happy to give you a special number just for this transaction, or all online transactions…so your regular number is never shared. Just call the number on your credit card to request this special account number. If you don't have a credit card, you may mail a check to Edie Driskill PO Box 741 Worthington OH 43085, and we'll add your points for you! STEP 2 – Select Your Videos While you're at the STORE page, you can preview the music used on the site. Our Amazon.com players allow us to sort the music into learning levels. You do not need to buy the music to listen to it while learning or dancing on the site, but if you would like to own it to put on your mp3 or burn on a CD, you can be sure it is the same song we are using on the site. To find videos to rent, go to the CATALOG page. You'll see every video initially sorted alphabetically. You'll find the name of the dance, its choreographer, dance level, no of walls and counts, and the music used, with the album art (which you will also see in the Amazon playlists.) You'll click on the RENT NOW button that will give you the options available for that dance. You will select the type of video and the length of your rental period. Then it will ask you to confirm your selection, so don't be worried about clicking something wrong….you can always change your choice. At the top of the selections are two buttons that will let you narrow down your search. The LEVEL button lets you only view videos designed for your level of dance. The seven levels are named for college years, Freshman, up to Doctorate! Here's a general guide to see how you'll progress: Level 1 - Freshman: Under 32 counts, one turn to change walls, straight rhythm with no syncopations Level 2 - Sophomore: Up to 32 counts, one turn to change walls, straight rhythm with up to one simple syncopation Level 3 - Junior: Up to 32 counts, one additional turn, easy syncopations Level 4 - Senior: Up to 32 counts, slightly more difficult turns, syncopations, and tempos, consistent rhythms, up to one easy tag or restart Level 5 - Graduate - Up to 48 counts, additional turns within eight counts, all rhythm patterns, tags and restarts Level 6 - Masters - Up to 64 counts, more difficult turns and rhythm patterns Level 7 - Doctorate - No limits on counts, difficulty, phrasing or speed The SEARCH button only displays dances (no moves, fitness, etc.) in the level, length and music type you select. You can indicate multiple choices in each area. So, you might want to look at Sophomore and Junior, 32 count, country and pop selections. As a site for learners, we are excited to provide you with MOVE videos. There are about 100 common moves used in modern line dancing. We currently have 81 of them taped as instructional videos to help you understand the subtle points and safety issues of each move. These videos go into more detail than the time allowed in the lesson videos, so if you find a move is a bit tricky, look for the MOVE video to help you practice. We also offer a card set with all 81 moves and their definitions. The REAL FINE PLACE TO START warm up card set is available on the STORE page. We know that many dancers enjoy line dancing because it is one of the most fun ways to get moving to improve cardio-vascular health, balance/coordination, and maintain a healthy weight. It just doesn't FEEL like exercise. But it does miss one key component of overall fitness, so we've added resistance moves to a few of the Freshman videos to allow you to get your strength training in while you're dancing as well. You'll see these videos labeled WORKOUT and you should watch the SAFETY GUIDELINES FOR WORKOUTS (a free video) before trying out any of these exciting new combos! STEP 3 – Learn, Dance, Enjoy! Everyone learns a little differently, so we have different options to match your needs. Our most comprehensive videos are labeled FULL TEACH. These videos teach you the dance facing every wall while offering you the repetition that is so valuable to many learners. This experience mirrors that of a live lesson and then lets you dance the dance three times at increasing speeds with cues announcing the steps. By the end of 15 – 25 minutes, you will be dancing the dance! The QUICK TEACH videos only take 2 – 5 minutes and walk you through the dance three times. First, with the steps, then with the counts and last with the foot positions. This is a wonderful format for those who are quick learners, or who have already had the full teach and just need a refresher. There is no music or dance through on these videos. You can watch these videos over and over to get the repetition you need within your rental period. The DANCE and DANCE w/CUES videos feature the instructor dancing along to the full song. If you need the verbal cues to remember what step is coming next, you'll want to rent the Dance w/Cues. If you would rather just watch and listen to the music, the DANCE is for you. Remember you can rent the cued video for a while and when you've got it….then rent the video without the cues to continue enjoying the dance for weeks or months! If you're a brand new dancer, a great place to start is with our 7sets….either country or pop….these packages give you all the lessons and dances for seven Freshman dances and a combination video that plays all seven continuously for a fun half-hour dance session. Each time you come back to the site, you'll land on your own HOMEROOM, with a list of all the videos you have rented. It will tell you how much time you have left on your rental and let you renew them from that page. This page also lets you organize your videos by your progress and enjoyment of each dance, by clicking the triangles at the top of each column. It is your own personal catalog. Much of the enjoyment of dancing is sharing it with others. If you visit the TEACHER'S LOUNGE you can find the contact information for instructors and choreographers, willing to answer your questions. They love to hear from you. You can always email us with any feedback or questions. Remember the video tour of each page of the website is also available to rent at no cost from the catalog…in case you'd like a refresher. So, get your family dancing at home with you, invite your coworkers to dance with you at lunch, take your friends out to a bar and crank up the jukebox! Use your new skills to connect with others who love to dance!
